Here are some points on Quitting Smoking to keep you in the positive…
- Smoking is not pleasurable, the pleasure comes from not smoking!
- Not Smoking is one life’s ultimate freedoms. You will be free and in control of yourself and your life, only when you have kicked the habit.
- Your main enemy here is your mind. Once you have decided to not smoke anymore, and successfully quit, it will be easy to not have the desire.
- YOU should be in control, not nicotine! But as long as you are shelling out tons of money for your precious cigarettes, you are not in control.
- Smoking chose you, not the other way around. You never started smoking with the intention of becoming addicted to a drug.
- The vicious circle of smoking: The more you smoke, the more you want to smoke, and then the more it destroys everything.
- Smoking literally obscures your senses and well being.
- Remember that when you smoke, you are simply trying to return to the peaceful sense in your brain before you even started smoking. Essentially, you smoke to feel like a non-smoker!
- The withdrawals you will feel when you quit are not as bad as you think they will be. And they are WORTH the freedom of time and health of the rest of your life! The worst physical symptom you will feel is a slight emptiness and irritation. The rest is all in your mind!
- Realize that you are not in control of your addiction and your life, and you will never be as long as you still smoke.
- We associate cigarettes with pleasure because they have been an addition to the pleasurable times you have experienced (i.e. a party with friends, paired with your morning cup of coffee). But the truth is that these situations are pleasurable because of what you are doing and who you are doing it with. NOT because of smoking. And you will continue to have those positive experiences after you smoke. Except with your senses back, they will be MORE pleasurable!
- Take away your positive associations with smoking, and quitting will be easy!
- Nicotine creates those empty feelings you get. Without nicotine in your body, you will not have those feelings.
- Remember that you aren’t giving up on anything. You are gaining everything.
- Be aware when you smoke. See the cigarette for what it really is.
- We have lied to ourselves for years about smoking relieving anxiety. It really only adds anxiety!
- Cutting back only makes smoking seem precious. The only way you will ever be free and in control is to STOP.
- Think of all the money you will save!!!!!!!!! And in these hard economic times, THAT should be reason enough to quit!
- Smoking sucks your energy and makes you lazy. Think of all of the productive achievements smoking has held you back from!
- Stop making excuses for smoking= and you will stop making excuses to really LIVE your life!
- When you are stressed, actively DO something to change your situation. Smoking will only add more unneeded stress and discomfort.
- Smoking is the CAUSE of the problem. NOT the solution!
- Do you have sleeping problems? Do you have breathing problems? Do you have lethargy problems? Do you have a lack of energy? Do you feel depression? Do you have digestive issues? All of these dilemmas and much more are CAUSED by cigarettes. You will only relieve them when you are done putting the chemicals into your body.
- It is a mental misconception that a cigarette is a trustworthy pal that you cannot live without. In reality, smoking or not smoking doesn’t change your situation AT ALL!
- However bad your day is, smoking will make it worse! However good your day is, smoking will make it worse!
- Nicotine chemically makes you mentally weaker.
- If you carry on smoking, you are not really living your life the way you really want to. The only way you can get back to feeling content is to not have that next smoke!
- After you have quit, if you go back to smoking, that would mean that you like feeling empty and not in control, you want to die early, and you enjoy being a slave!
- In quitting, you will have to deal with withdrawal feelings. But AS A smoker, you deal with those feelings EVERY DAY.
- How great will you feel when you can look at other smokers and think “Thank God I don’t have to do that to myself anymore!” ?
- Remember that you will always have bad days, and days you will REALLY feel like wanting a smoke. But bad days are a part of life, and smoking will not relieve anything.
- Smoking is part of a selfish, thoughtless society. You are buying into this ridiculous trap of stealing your money and your health!
- YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE WITH QUITTING, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN!
